  Mastering the bully
  -By Hima Bindu

“Come sit here,” shouted the young boy. The mother was intently watching her young one commanding his sister.

“You are a fool” cried a classmate to the other. The teacher could not do any thing about it.

A tough looking boy was beating up one of his playmates. The others were afraid of him and so remained quite.

These are some of the daily occurrences with children. We should appreciate the children for being able to spell out how they feel. But it is incorrect to let them bully others. Referring to the instances given above, at first glance we assume that only the third incident is about bullying. Again another question arises if it is only the strong ones who bully!

Actually, No. Bullying is not a single handed job of only the strong ones. And it is not only about beating or any other physical harm that accounts to bullying. There are various kinds which include verbal bullying, social bullying, destructive bullying (like damaging personal property), being mean deliberately, etc.

• Verbal bullying is to call names, teasing continuously and generally irritate friends.
• Insulting the status of friends is considered social bullying.
• Hiding things, damaging personal things is destructive bullying
• Being friendly yet trying to demean them for their own purpose is another form of bullying.
